New Delhi: Pollution levels in the national capital, Delhi, are becoming even more worthless now, November 14. Today AQI in Delhi is 386, which is counted in a very poor category. Though today (November 14) has seen a slight improvement as compared to 400 AQI the previous day, the wind is still at a very poor level. The deteriorating pollution situation in Delhi has led to the lockdown. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), Delhi's average AQI has been recorded below 400. The AQI is set to record 386 in the morning at India Gate and Copernicus Marg. The sky has witnessed fog and smog due to pollution.
According to the Meteorological Ministry, the sunshine and light air since morning has given some relief to Delhi from the toxic air. The Air Quality Index has come down below 400 but the air still remains very bad for health. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is defined as 'good' between zero and 50, 'satisfactory' between 51 and 100, 'moderate' between 101 and 200, 'poor' between 201 and 300, 'very poor' between 301 and 400. Between 401 and 500 are considered in the 'severe' range.
Despite all the efforts of the government, the Delhi-NCR air is not showing any improvement. CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced the closure of all schools for a week. All government employees have also been asked to work from home. In addition, construction activity has been banned. The Delhi government is in action after the Supreme Court reprimanded it. The Supreme Court has categorically said that a lockdown should be imposed if needed as the situation needs to be controlled. Where it has been found that the condition of polluted air in Delhi-NCR is so bad that people have to wear masks. People who are unconcerned about covid infection have also been announced to wear masks to avoid pollution.
