Delhi's Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, has announced a comprehensive 21-point Winter Action Plan aimed at combating the city's pollution during the upcoming cold months. This initiative is an upgrade from last year's 15-point plan, reflecting the government's continued commitment to improving air quality.

In a recent meeting with 35 key departments—including the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), Delhi Police, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), Public Works Department (PWD), and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)—officials discussed strategies to implement the enhanced plan. The meeting focused on devising effective measures to manage pollution more robustly this year.

Minister Rai highlighted the government's dedication to addressing pollution, particularly in winter when levels typically surge. He stated, "This year, we are introducing new measures as part of the 21-point Winter Action Plan to further reduce pollution."

Rai also noted that since the current administration took office, there has been a significant improvement in the city's air quality. The enhanced plan aims to build on these positive results by targeting specific areas of concern during the winter season.

On August 29, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai led an 'Expert Meet' to discuss advanced strategies for pollution control. The meeting brought together officials and representatives from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), Environment, UNEP, EPIC India, Clean Air Asia, IIT Kanpur, Greenpeace, IARI, and TERI.

During the discussions, various innovative solutions were considered, with artificial rain emerging as a prominent recommendation for addressing pollution challenges.
