Delhi now groaning with dengue after corona, number of patients broke 3-year record

New Delhi: Dengue cases are on the rise in the country's capital Delhi. The figure has crossed 300 in Delhi on Monday. 68 new cases have been registered by the municipal corporation last week. After which dengue cases in Delhi have increased to 341 till October 2. Dengue has jumped 63.6 per cent this week as compared to last month. 217 cases were registered in the month of September. Dengue cases reported in September this year have broken the record of the last three years.

It is generally seen that dengue cases come to light from July-August and patients decrease after reaching the peak by mid-October. However, these time dengue cases are on the rise due to heavy rains in Delhi-NCR till last month. According to a South Delhi Municipal Corporation official, 'Mosquito breeding has increased after heavy rains in Delhi-NCR. This year the rain continued till after normal days. As a result, mosquito breeding has increased to a great extent.'

A doctor at Max Hospital-Saket said, "The number of dengue cases in hospitals is also steadily increasing. Dengue cases have come in large numbers in the last three weeks. We see one or two dengue patients admitted to our hospital every day.'' He said, ''The best thing with dengue patients this time is that the mosquito larvae are mild within the people, which is recovering at home. Those who are being admitted to the hospital are also being discharged from the hospital in two or three days.''
