Aurangabad, as with the monsoon season, there has been a sharp increase in dengue cases across the district.

With the aim of preventing further dengue cases, experts have insist on people to cover domestic water storage containers tightly so that their no scope for mosquitoes to enter.

Experts said, that the Aedes aegypti vector mosquito, which breeds during rain, continues to reproduce and add to its numbers usually when there is a monsoon break.

"The district has reported altogether 29 positive cases of dengue this year. However, 26 cases were reported in July and August alone when the rainfall took a break", said, District malaria officer Anil Patil.

"With the district witnessing good monsoon this year, there is a possibility of dengue cases going up. Hence, preventive measures need to be implemented to defeat dengue. People should protect themselves from getting bitten by the mosquito. The only way of getting rid of dengue is wiping off breeding grounds. No water should be stored openly without changing it on a regular basis. At times, it goes unnoticed, but many houses unknowingly provide breeding grounds for mosquitoes," he added.
