In the Rajya Sabha, the battle of political war has started. Today the elections will be held for the Deputy Chairman post in the Upper House. The Modi government and the opposition have announced their respective candidates. Rajya Sabha MP Haridvansh Narayan Singh of JD (U), on behalf of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), while Congress MP BK Hariprasad on behalf of the opposition will be in the ground.

Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are claiming victory, but after the announcement of the support of Harivansh Singh by the Janata Dal, the NDA's side looks strong. The present number of members in the Rajya Sabha are 244. According to BJP's mathematics, Harivansh Singh is going to get support of 126 members of the Upper House. At the same time, the figures of the Opposition show that Congress candidate Hariprasad is expected to get 111 votes.

Harivansh Singh is sure to get the votes of 91 NDA members. The BJP expects that apart from the three nominated members, Samajwadi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh will also get support. Along with AIADMK 13, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) 6, YSR Congress 2, and one INLD member are expected to get support. All of them are getting 117 votes. Odisha Chief Minister and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik has also announced the support of the JDU member. After the support of 9 MPs of BJD, the votes of NDA candidate will be 126.

In the case of numbers, UPA's candidate 's face seems to be lighter. Hariprasad is expected to get the support of Trinamool Congress and SP 13, TDP 6, CPI 5, BSP and DMK 4, CPI two and one JDS member. Adding it, this number is 109. If a consented and an independent member also supports it, then this figure reaches only 111.

The Aam Aadmi Party's Arvind Kejriwal has rejected Nitish Kumar's request for support and has decided not to participate in the poll. While the picture of the PDP is not yet clear.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar has met Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad in the Rajya Sabha for the Parliament's proceedings to be done peacefully. After the completion of the process for nomination, the process of voting in the Rajya Sabha will begin at 11 AM.
