MYSURU: JD (S) supremo and Ex-Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda announced on Thursday that he will commence his election campaign from January 2023.
Deve Gowda, who has pledged to bring JD (S) to power in Karnataka in next year's Assembly polls, called on party workers and leaders to strengthen door-to-door campaigns so as to reach out to the general public.
"The Pancharatna Rath Yatra has already begun throughout the state under the leadership of former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy (his son) and other figures. Each party leader's duties are set in each village, "He said.
Deve Gowda added that duties have also been assigned to party leaders, lawmakers, and former MLAs while also making it clear that the party's initial selection of candidates is not yet complete.
"The list will be reviewed each day. Every day, surveys are conducted. Talks between differing leaders and Kumaraswamy are ongoing "He declared.
After the upcoming Assembly elections, the JD (S), recognised as the third power behind the national parties Congress and BJP, hopes to play a significant position in the establishment of a new government.
It is attempting to gain control of 30 to 40 seats out of the 224 Assembly constituencies. The national parties, however, are locked in bitter electoral contests.
State's decision With the addition of influential politicians from the JD (S) and Congress in 2019, the BJP gained momentum in south Karnataka and is now sure that it would win the majority.
If Congress wins the election, D.K. Shivakumar, the president of the Karnataka Congress, and Siddaramaiah, the leader of the opposition, would compete for the office of the chief minister.
Shivakumar, a member of the Vokkaliga community, has already pleaded with the critical community voters to support him this time instead of Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy.
