On the other hand, if we believe the Puranas, then according to the Puranas, on the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu goes to the Kshira Sagar to rest for 4 months. Not only this but due to Lord Vishnu being in the sleeping posture for 4 months, the manglicious works like marriage, Upanayana rites, home entry are stopped. All this has been told in a story.

According to the story, Shankhasura demon was killed on the date of Ekadashi in the Shukla Paksha of the month of Ashada. From that day onwards, God goes to sleep in the Kshira Sea for four months. Sun, Moon reduces the Tejas element of nature, for this reason it is also said that Devashayan has been done. In these days even the sadhus stop traveling and they sit in one place and start doing spiritual practice of the Lord. After four months, the Sun enters the Libra zodiac and then Lord Vishnu is once again engaged in the creation of the universe.

This time worship method of Devshayani Ekadashi- Keep in mind that you should stop eating salt before Dashami one night before worshiping Ekadashi.
