Devuthni Gyaras or Prabodhini Gyaras is seen as most important fasting and Tulsi marriage ritual observed in the Indian tradition. According to Hindu calendar this day is the 11th lunar day in the bright two-week star as the Chaturmas ends after four month. It is believed that God Vishnu sleeps these months.

Also, known by many names kartiki ekadashi, Kartik shukla ekadshi or kartik, it is followed by Kartik Poornima that is celebrated as Diwali, festival of lights.

Many Indians keeping fast perform various rituals. This day is perceived as the wedding of God Vishnu and Tulsi plant. In the evening people make rangoli over geru paste for the decoration purpose, after which a pooja is done chanting mantras and along with sugarcane, rice, dry red chillies then all these are given to pandits as daan. It’s majorly known by the name Tulsi Vivaah.
