New Delhi: In view of the ongoing impact of the coronavirus, a global epidemic in many countries, the central government has extended the ban on all Commerce Yil International flights till August 31. However, the ban will not be for cargo aircraft and special flights running with the permission of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
DGCA has said that international flights scheduled on some selected routes by the competent authority will continue to be allowed as before if required. It may be mentioned that special flights are being operated continuously to bring stranded people to India or to ferry foreign nationals from India to their countries. The ban was earlier imposed till July 31, which ended last Saturday. The number of covid cases has increased in the last few days. In view of this, the government has extended the ban till August 31.
The operation of international flights in India was stopped since the lockdown took place last year. Since then, the government has banned flights several times. However, domestic flights were later started operating. Flights are being operated in the domestic sector with special precautions. The ban on flights has worsened the condition of the aviation sector and airlines have incurred huge losses in the last year.
