Dehradun: The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday after the Executive Committee of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) approved the industrial and sewerage pollution abatement projects with an estimated cost of around Rs 38 crores in Uttarakhand.

Under the direction of G Asok Kumar, Director General of the NMCG, the 43rd meeting of the Executive Committee of the NMCG was held on Wednesday. SP Vashishth, ED (Admin), DP Mathuria, ED (Technical), Himansu Badoni, ED (Projects), Bhaskar Dasgupta, ED (Finance), and Richa Misra, JS&FA, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti.

The EC meeting approved projects with an estimated cost of about Rs 38 crores that included afforestation, the development of the Kalindi Kunj ghat landscape, the use of modern technology to reduce industrial and sewerage pollution, and others.

The state has earlier authorised four projects totaling roughly Rs. 43 crores during the 42nd Executive Committee meeting.

At an anticipated cost of Rs 10.30 crores, a project titled "Afforestation Programmes in States of Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal 2022-23" was approved. It involves plantation, upkeep, capacity building, training, and awareness campaigns in the two main stem Ganga basin states.
