Singapore: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held discussions with Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to enhance cooperation in the education sector. The meeting aimed to bolster bilateral ties in school education, vocational training, and research.

The talks centered around three main pillars: Talent, Resource, and Market. Pradhan highlighted India's perspective of Singapore as a reliable knowledge partner, especially in areas like deep technology, startups, and innovation ecosystems.

In a post on X, Pradhan shared, "Called on PM of Singapore, HE Mr. @LawrenceWongST. Had meaningful conversations on elevating and expanding our bilateral cooperation in school education, vocational education, and research." He elaborated that these three pillars underpin the partnership, reinforcing India's commitment to collaborate closely with Singapore.

Furthermore, Pradhan mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and PM Wong have introduced a framework to strengthen the India-Singapore partnership. "Hon'ble PM @narendramodi and PM Wong have laid out a robust framework to transform India-Singapore cooperation into an all-round partnership, including in critical and emerging areas," Pradhan noted on X.

During his visit, Pradhan also met with Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan to discuss ways to deepen educational collaboration. Sharing pictures from their meeting on X, he expressed, "Glad to meet Singaporean Minister for Foreign Affairs and a dear friend @VivianBala." Both leaders agreed to enhance the India-Singapore Knowledge Partnership, aiming for greater achievements in their multifaceted educational cooperation.

Pradhan's trip to Singapore is part of a week-long tour aimed at strengthening educational ties with both Singapore and Australia. While in Singapore, he visited the National University of Singapore (NUS) and met with President Professor Tan Eng Chye to explore potential research collaborations between NUS and leading Indian higher education institutions, focusing on fields such as medical technology, startups, and digitalisation.
