New Delhi: Union Minister of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan has made a big statement about the steel industry. He said that "SAIL's relevance in the steel industry facing global challenges will not only be retained, but positive changes will be made in its structure and mechanism. The policy changes that are being made will also start showing results soon". Pradhan said that "there is also a plan to increase SAIL's existing 140 million tonne production capacity to 300 million tonnes per annum".

The Union Steel Minister informed that several policy decisions are being taken for the economic development of SAIL. Efforts are on to remove the restrictions on the use of minerals emanating from SAIL's mines. With this, SAIL will also be able to make available the mineral of its mine in a fixed amount to the nearby small and medium units. This is expected to increase income.
He said that" the land of SAIL is illegal, while SAIL needs land to expand its capacity. In view of both these things, a proposal is being prepared that people living in the settlements should be linked to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana".
