Pune: The Indian wrestling world has suffered a big loss. Dadu Chougule, who won the silver medal for the country at the legendary Wrestler and Commonwealth Games, has died. With this news, there is a wave of mourning among the wrestlers. He had a heart attack in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, where he was admitted to the hospital. His family gave this information. He was 73 years old. He has two sons in the family. According to his family, Chougule was suffering from asthma, who was hospitalized for treatment.

He died of a heart attack at 2 pm on Sunday. Born in a farmer family, Chaugule was associated with Motibagh Talim at the age of 10 after starting wrestling at the age of seven. Motibagh Talim is known to be among the oldest arena of wrestlers. Chougule, who trained with veterans like Ganpat Rao Andhalkar and Balu Bire, took prestigious titles like Maharashtra Kesari, Rustom Hind Kesari and Mahan Bharat Kesari in the 1970s.

Chougule had won the Maharashtra Kesari title twice, which was also a record for a long time. Dadu is remembered even today by the garb who fought with big masters like wrestler Sadiq Punjabi, Satpal. He won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games held in New Zealand in 1974. He was also awarded the prestigious Dhyanchand Award for achievement in sports. He was given this honour by President Kovind on 25 September 2018.
