Indore, Betul and Vidisha of Madhya Pradesh will soon become digital districts. They were selected on a pilot basis in the Digital District Programme in the year 2019 and were to be made digital districts within a year, but due to the Corona transition, there were many challenges before the banks. Hence the state level Bankers' Committee has extended the time period till March 2021.

Under this scheme, transactions will be done digitally in most of the areas. A similar exercise has also been started in Bhopal. The district lead bank is preparing an action plan for this. At the same time, through the Municipal Corporation, people are also promoting digital payments. The 177th meeting of the State Level Bankers' Committee held on 6 January included the topic of Digital District Programme in which discussion was held about Indore, Betul and Vidisha on pilot project basis.

It was told that by March, these districts have to be a hundred percent digitally enabled. Collectors were also requested to review. In the coming time, other districts of the state will also be selected. 100% achievement is to be achieved on other parameters including use of net banking, QR codes in government and private sector, issue of POS machines. Only after this, digital districts will be formed. It is understood that Betul lags behind in some standards compared to Indore and Vidisha.
