New Delhi: Congress veteran and Rajya Sabha member Digvijay Singh on Wednesday raised the matter registered on some pressmen and Congress Parliamentary Shashi Tharoor during the Rajya Sabha proceedings on January 26 during the Kisan Tractor rally in Delhi. Digvijay Singh said that this is the persecution of the people, as they have been accused of treason, and requested the Home Minister Amit Shah to look into the matter.

Digvijay said that the same type of FIR has been registered in three states. Noida police has registered a case of treason against MP Shashi Tharoor, journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, journalist Mrinal Pandey, journalist Vinod K Jose, and others. Noida police has said in the FIR lodged at the Sector-20 police station that a case has been registered against them for tweeting and spreading fake news related to the death of the farmer during the tractor parade on Republic Day. The FIR also named Zafar Agha, Group Editor-in-Chief of the National Herald, and Anant Nath, the editor of Caravan.

A case has been registered against politicians and journalists for promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion, caste, place of birth, residence, language, etc. They have been accused that they have done this work deliberately and due to maliciousness.
