Bhopal: Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh last Saturday accused state agriculture minister Kamal Patel of providing non-certified seeds to farmers in the state. He said, "Quality seeds are not being provided to the farmers.'' At the same time, he wrote a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He wrote this letter last Saturday and said in the letter, "He (Patel) is indulging in corruption and taking money from those involved in selling unverified seeds in the state.''

At the same time, he further said that he has no faith in the State Agriculture Minister. Singh in his letter has urged the chief minister to look into the matter. At the same time, Digvijay Singh also said, "You (Chauhan) always introduce yourself as a farmer son, so you should immediately look into this issue and stop providing uncertified seeds to the farmers. He also urged Shivraj Singh Chouhan to get the seeds of the state tested by the agriculture department for the sake of farmers.'' He further said, "During his tenure as the State Agriculture Minister, an agency was set up to ensure that farmers get only quality seeds.''

He further said, "During my tenure as Agriculture Minister, The Seed Agriculture Corporation was established with the objective of providing quality seeds to the farmers. We had linked it to the (Seed Corporation) Agricultural University so that good quality seeds can be grown to improve the crops in the State.''
