The Karbi Anglong Police seized suspected brown sugar worth Rs 14 lakh on Wednesday. According to a police source, the drugs were obtained from two people based on precise information regarding drug traffickers' movements.

According to the source, a checkpoint was setup in the Panbari region of Diphu based on the information provided. After an hour and a half, the police came across an auto-rickshaw with two other occupants, one of which was a lady, in addition to the driver. The cops found 15 soapboxes packed with suspected brown sugar when they inspected them.

The occupants were detained immediately, according to the police, and are being investigated further. The drugs were seized from the woman's handbag, although preliminary inquiry suggested that both occupants were linked, according to the police. The woman and the other person, Abdus Salam, were detained and questioned on the spot. They said they got the narcotics from someone in Dimapur and were on their way to Howraghat. The cops further said that drugs weighing 194 grammes in the area were worth Rs 14 lakh.
