Sidhi Bus Tragedy: Death toll hits 38, relief work in progress

Sidhi: A bus, carrying about 54 passengers, fell into the canal from the bridge this morning near Patna village under Rampur Naikin police station area in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh. The accident causes many deaths as very few chances are seen of survival. The bus fell into the canal because the driver lost control of the bus. According to the information received, seven passengers have been evacuated, while the search for the remaining passengers is on. At the same time, the bodies of 38 passengers have been recovered.

According to eyewitnesses, this bus filled with passengers fell into the canal at around 7.30 am on Tuesday and was completely submerged in water. This bus is not even visible from the banks of the canal. It is feared that it has been swept away in the fast flow of the canal and the rescue teams are busy searching for this bus in the deepwater of the canal. It is also being said that the Superintendent of Police of Sidhi district Pankaj Kumawat has confirmed the incident and said that he is currently engaged in rescue operations, so detailed information will be given later.

According to eyewitnesses, about seven people swam out of the canal water and came out safely. State CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given instructions to speed up the relief and rescue operations. With this, CM Shivraj has left for Sidhi.
