Regional airline FlyBig is all set to begin the Delhi-Umroi-Delhi flight from December 21, but the airline is yet to have its own aircraft on this route. The Meghalaya Government has signed a contract with FlyBig to operate a direct flight on the New Delhi-Shillong-New Delhi route from December 21.

Meghalaya transport minister Sniawbhalang Dhar would represent the state government in the inaugural flight. FlyBig is making arrangements to operate a Bombardier Q400 aircraft twice a week, directly from Umroi airport which is located in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district to Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. According to the official release, It would initially operate the flight twice a week. Due to Covid19 restrictions, Flybig would take some time to operate its own aircraft on this route.

The maiden flight will take off from New Delhi at 10 am and land at the Umroi Airport at 1.10 pm. The flight from Umroi will take off at 1.50 pm and land in New Delhi at 4 pm. India’s new scheduled commuter airline FlyBig (Big Charter Pvt. Ltd), got the contract for this route through a tender floated by the Meghalaya Transport Corporation at the beginning of the year.
