Director-producer of CID series appointed as new FTII Chairman

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on Thursday appointed Brijendra Pal Singh, director-producer of the popular TV series C.I.D., as the new President of FTII and the Chairperson of the FTII governing council.

FTII congratulated the director- producer via Twitter. The Tweet reads, “Congratulations to Shri Brijendra Pal Singh on his appointment as President of FTII Society and Chairman of FTII Governing Council.”

Singh was earlier the Vice-Chairman of the FTII governing council and also an alumnus of the Pune institute. The institute officially made the announcement on Twitter on Thursday evening.

Earlier, Almost a month actor Anupam Kher stepped down as the Chairman of the  FTII.

FTII said in release, The tenure of Singh,will be for the remaining period of block of three years starting from March 3, 2017 as per the provisions of FTII rules.

Talking about CID,  it  recently completed a record 21 years of unbroken run on Sony TV. In year 2004, Singh also made it to the Limca Book of Records for taking a single continuous shot of 111 minutes to mark the completion of six years of 'CID'.
