On Thursday night in Guwahati's Sonapur, a father was beaten to death by his son over a drunk argument. According to reports, Sambardu Baruah's son Nabajit Baruah allegedly beat him to death with a stick.

Speaking to the media, the accused person's brother stated that the event occurred because both parties were drunk."On Thursday night, my older brother, Nabajit, arrived home late and inebriated. My father, who was also drunk when he returned, punished him, but the scolding turned into a quarrel between them," he added.

He went on to say that when their argument became violent, his father pulled out a machete and struck Nabajit. In self-defense, Nabajit took his father's machete and pushed him to the ground.

After his father fell, he took out a wooden stick and started beating him, during which his father had severe head injuries. Despite the family's best efforts to rescue him by taking him to a hospital, he died before he could get there. Nabajit was apprehended on Friday after his mother filed an FIR.
