New Delhi: Even after the restrictions, fireworks went off in Delhi in such a way that the number of people burning in Delhi reached 163. The figure is more than double that of the previous year as 68 cases were reported on Deepawali in 2020. According to reports, 55 cases of burn injuries have been registered at Safdarjung Hospital alone.

33 persons have also suffered eye injuries due to firecrackers. Dr Shalabh Kumar, Head of Burn Department, Safdarjung Hospital said that health services were already put on alert over Deepawali. Just a day before Deepawali, 12 burn victims had arrived. Out of these, 8 were patients from Delhi and four from outside states. Last Thursday, 43 patients arrived for burn treatment on Deepawali. Out of these, 41 patients were from Delhi and 2 were from outside Delhi. A total of 55 patients had arrived for treatment on both days due to Deepawali burn. Last year, only 28 patients had reached the hospital for treatment.

33 patients reached the RP Centre in AIIMS. Dr JS Titiyal, head of the centre, said 33 patients arrived for treatment in the last two days. Out of this, 18 patients have seen serious eye injuries which had to be admitted for treatment. They were between 7 years and 36 years of age. In addition, 23 injured persons were rushed to RMRL, New Delhi for treatment. In addition, 25 patients had rushed to the DDU hospital for treatment due to firecracker burns.
