New Delhi: General MM Naravane, the Indian Army's chief of staff, sent out Diwali greetings on Thursday. The Indian Army's Additional Directorate General of Public Information took to Twitter to say, "General MM Naravane COAS and All Ranks of IndianArmy extend greetings on the occasion of Diwali. On this day, let us remember the valour and sacrifice of our Bravehearts."

Diwali will be celebrated this year on Thursday, November 4th. In order to commemorate the "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance," people decorate their homes, exchange gifts, and offer prayers during the festival.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier sent out Diwali greetings, wishing everyone "happiness, prosperity, and good fortune." Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, also wished everyone a happy festival.
