Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday for lowering the excise duty on petrol and diesel, calling it a Diwali gift.

"We are grateful to the Prime Minister for lowering the excise duty on diesel and gasoline. When people's lives are affected by inflation, diesel and gasoline play a role. This comes as a huge relief. On the occasion of Diwali, the Prime Minister has given this as a gift "Today, Adityanath told reporters in New Delhi.

Today, the Chief Minister offered prayers at Ayodhya's Hanuman Garhi temple. He also prayed to 'Ram Lalla' at Ayodhya's Ram Janambhoomi. I express my best wishes to the people of the state for a very happy Diwali, the CM said on Diwali, extending his greetings to the people.

Taking to Twitter, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs. I wish you all a joyous Diwali. By Goddess Lakshmi's grace, may every home be filled with the light of happiness, peace, prosperity, and health. By Lord Shri Ram's grace, may the aura of truth shine brightly in the hearts of all people. May this festival be a source of good fortune and happiness for all of creation, he said.
