Novak Djokovic has played a key role in defeating rival Rafael Nadal after a long time in the ATP Cup final here on Sunday to make Serbia the champion. Serbia, ranked second in the world rankings, has returned to the team by defeating the top ranked player 6-2, 7-6 in the final of the tournament being played for the first time.

Earlier in the opening match, Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut, who was ranked 10th in the world rankings, defeated Dusan Lajovic of Serbia 7-5, 6-1. Nadal did not go to court for the doubles bout citing exhaustion. In their absence, the pair of Djokovic and Viktor Troiski had no problem defeating the Spanish pair of Feliciano Lopez and Pablo Carreno Busta. The Serbia duo won the match 6-3, 6-4.
