New Delhi: Amid the growing demand and acute shortage of remdesivir injections across the country, the Delhi government has issued a list announcing the names and addresses of 30 distributors where ramdesivir stocks are in large quantities. Police have been directed to keep a close watch on the places which have been included in the list.

The demand for remdesivir has increased in view of a large number of admitted corona patients in critical condition in the hospitals. In view of this, the Central Government on Saturday supplied remdesivir to 19 states/Union Territories which are the worst hit by corona. A health ministry release said that states are advised to promote the judicious use of remdesivir. Which has been listed as screening therapy by the Ministry. States have also been advised to take action against possible hoarding and black marketing of remdesivir.

The manufacturing capacity of domestic remdesivir manufacturers has increased keeping in view the growing demand across the country for remedisvir injections required for corona therapy. All help is being provided by the Government to the manufacturers in this effort. The production capacity is being increased from the current level from 38 lakh vials per month to 74 lakh vials per month and 20 additional manufacturing sites have been permitted. Export of Remdesivir has also been banned on 11th April 2021 to increase domestic supply.
