The crime case that has come up recently is from Kolkata. In this case, the team of the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate's Women Police Station has arrested the doctor on the charge of raping a woman on pre-text of marriage. In this case, it is reported that the doctor's name is Shekhar Haldar (38) and he lives in Bhaskar Roy Enclave, opposite to Haldiram. In this case, he was arrested late Wednesday and taken into custody.

According to the news received, "On 28 December 2019, the 23-year-old victim had lodged a complaint related to this at Bidhannagar Mahila Police Station and she had told that as a patient she once went to the doctor for treatment. At the same time, the two had come close to each other and in November 2018, the doctor booked a hotel for three days. After that the two stayed there together and a physical relationship was formed between the two. At that time, the doctor described himself as divorced and went to Kalighat temple and married her. 

It is now alleged that the doctor introduced the girl as his fiance among his friends and in the meantime, booked the hotel in many places and stayed together at many places. When the girl became pregnant, she refused to keep her with her and the girl also gave Rs 60000 to the doctor, out of which she has returned only 40000 rupees. Now in this case, the police have registered a case under sections 493, 376, 496, 417 and 406 of the Indian Penal Code and started legal proceedings.
