A four-months-old girl child died of alleged medical negligence at District Hospital Handwara triggering protests in the hospital on Thursday.

“As I rushed my daughter to the hospital, one Dr. Firdous was examining patients in the OPD. I pleaded him that my daughter was in serious condition but he pushed me aside, saying I should wait…” Nazir Ahmed Pir, father of victim Munza Nazir told ‘

He also alleged that following his protests against the “negligence”, Dr. Firdous and his brother who runs a medical shop (Qazi Medicate) outside the hospital and where the Dr. Firdous runs his clinic, thrashed him in the hospital despite knowing that his child had died. “

The doctors in the hospital tried to rescue the child but she was brought dead here. The patient’s attendants have actually manhandled the doctor on duty after he told them that the child was brought dead.” When asked how brother of Dr. Firdous thrashed the victim’s family, The Medical Superintendent said “since his brother was attacked, so he had to retaliate!”.
