CHENNAI: Patients in government hospitals are facing a lot of hardship due to the strike of nearly 17,000 doctors in Tamil Nadu for the second consecutive day on Saturday. The doctors have been on strike since Friday, demanding equality in pay. Apart from the same salary as their counterparts in the central government, doctors are demanding promotions within the stipulated time and not reducing the number of doctors in hospitals.

The striking doctors have informed the media that no patient will be seen except in an emergency. Apart from this, patients of life-saving, medical, surgical emergency will also be seen. Meanwhile, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) national president Stalin has urged the Tamil Nadu government on Friday to talk to the doctors on strike and remove any redressal for the troubled patients.
