Doda accident: Give immediate relief to families of deceased, medical help to injured: Lt. Guv

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to the families of the deceased and best medical assistance to the injured following a road accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday.

Taking to Twitter handle Lieutenant Governor said, "Deeply anguished to hear about the tragic road accident in Doda. My thoughts and prayers for the families who have lost their loved ones. Have directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to families of deceased and best medical assistance to the injured."

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the families of those killed in the accident will receive an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each from the PM National Relief Fund. Dr. Jitendra Singh, a Union Minister, also stated that he has spoken with Vikas Sharma, the Deputy Commissioner of Doda, about the incident. "The injured have been taken to Doda's Government Medical College (GMC). Any additional assistance that is required will be provided "The Union Minister stated. Earlier in the day, a minibus travelling from Thathri to Doda crashed into a gorge, killing eight people and injuring several others.
