Domestic LPG cylinder prices hiked; check new rates

NEW DELHI: With effect from today, March 1, 2023, the cost of a 14.2 kg domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder has increased by Rs 50. With this, the domestic cylinder price will cost Rs.1,103 per cylinder from today in Delhi.

In the meantime, the cost of 19 kg commercial cylinders has increased significantly by Rs 350.50, and will now be sold in the nation's capital for Rs 2,119.50. The updated prices are valid as of today, March 1.

This is the second increase in the cost of a commercial LPG cylinder this year. Commercial cylinders had previously been priced at Rs 1,768 in Delhi, Rs 1,721 in Mumbai, Rs 1,870 in Kolkata, and Rs 1,971 in Chennai before a rise of Rs 25 per unit took effect on January 1.

LPG is now priced at Rs. 1,103 in Delhi, Rs. 1,118.5 in Chennai, and Rs. 1,155 in Hyderabad following revision. Cylinder will cost Rs 1,102.5 in Mumbai and Rs 1,129 in Kolkata.

Due to local taxes and monthly price revisions by fuel retailers, domestic cooking gas prices differ from state to state. Twelve cylinders at discounted rates are allowed for each home each year. After then, cylinders can be bought at market price.

It should be noted that, in the event of a change, oil marketing organisations announce new LPG cylinder prices at the beginning of each month. Domestic LPG prices are influenced by global crude oil market prices.

While optimism for a robust economic recovery in China outweighed concerns that US interest rate hikes would reduce demand in the largest economy in the world, oil prices increased by about 2% on Tuesday, erasing the session's losses.
