Washington: US President Donald Trump signed four orders on Friday related to the reduction in drug prices. In America, Americans will have to pay less money to buy medicines prescribed by the doctor. It is believed that Trump took this important decision at this time because he is facing criticism for not being able to properly control the Corona epidemic just before the election.
On this occasion, Trump said that one order would allow legal import of cheap medicines from countries like Canada, while another order would give exemption from pharmaceutical companies, which would pass through intermediaries to patients. According to Reuters, another order issued by Trump is to reduce the cost of insulin. While the fourth order is such that if negotiations with pharmaceutical companies are successful, then there will be no need to implement them. Trump said that if this happens, then Medicare will be available to buy medicines at the same price that other countries sell.
President Trump said officials of top pharmaceutical companies have requested for a meeting so that they can brainstorm on how they can reduce drug prices. Before signing the documents, Trump said, "We are putting patients before lobbyists, putting seniors before their special interests, and we are putting our country America first."
