Washington: In a post on his social media website, Truth Social, on Thursday, former US president Donald Trump announced that he had arrived in Manhattan for a deposition before Letitia James, the attorney general of New York.

James accused Trump and his three adult children of fraud in a civil lawsuit he filed in Manhattan's New York state court last September, alleging that they overstated the value of real estate to qualify for loans and tax advantages. Following her filing of that case, Trump also sued James.

In March, Trump asked the court to postpone the case's deadline by six months, stating that doing so would give him more time to review the "staggering" amount of materials, which included millions of pages of documents. He would also have more time to question dozens of witnesses.
