Bangalore: Hijab controversy has started once again in Karnataka. Giving a statement on this issue, BJP MLA Basanagouda Yatnal said on Friday that Muslim students who are demanding to wear hijab in classes should be deprived of education. The statement came a day after Mangaluru University students protested against some students who attended classes wearing hijabs.

BJP MLA Basanagouda Yatnal said, 'They (minorities) do not respect the court and the Constitution. Government should take strict action against them. In future they should be deprived of education. They don't want their future. In fact, a group of students of Mangaluru University College had alleged that some Muslim girl students were coming to classes wearing hijabs. These students protested against this in the college premises, due to which the issue of hijab again caught fire. The protesting students, wearing college uniforms, claimed that 44 girl students had come to the college wearing hijab and some of them are attending classes wearing it.

He accused the principal and officials of the college of failing to resolve the issue so far under pressure from influential, local political leaders and said that the student union leaders were also in collusion with them. A protesting student said, 'We are demanding implementation of the High Court order, even after submitting a memorandum to the college authorities, they were not implementing it. We were planning a protest, in view of this the authorities have now decided to implement the order.
