New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram  on Saturday attacked Law Minister Kiren Rijiju over information in the Lok Sabha regarding the sedition law. Chidambaram has said that Rijiju seems to not read newspapers reporting supreme court proceedings.

Kiren Rijiju hit back at him saying that he may not read newspapers but knows that news never forms part of official records. He also asked Chidambaram how many thousand cases of sedition were registered against people in Congress governments. In fact, Congress leader Chidambaram tweeted, 'The Law Minister said that no proposal to repeal the sedition law has come to the Home Ministry.'

Chidambaram said the law minister did not say that the Home Ministry must have a proposal to register a case against a large number of innocent people under the sedition law.' He also slammed Rijiju saying, 'The law minister also said that there is no record of any comment from the apex court regarding the sedition law. He did not say that he did not read newspapers reporting supreme court proceedings.'
