Hyderabad: There is a fierce fight over the three capitals of Andhra Pradesh. In this sequence, now members of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have demonstrated against this bill on Sunday at the party office in Nandigama town of Krishna district. The activists demanded 'Amravati should continue as the only capital of Andhra Pradesh'. During this time, TDP leaders and cadres also raised slogans of "Amravati is the only capital, no need of three capitals".
Former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and former MLA Tangirala Soumya participated in the protests during this period. Everyone planted saplings in the party office. There is a plan to bid for Amravati as the only capital of Andhra Pradesh. The TDP leader has also supported this plan. The movement has started in the state against the announcement of 3 capitals made by Reddy on 17 December.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court gave an order on 14 August. In that order, the state government was asked to follow the status quo until the day of the next hearing about the Decentralization Act of the three capital cities. The bill related to the three Capitals in Andhra Pradesh has been approved by the State Legislative Assembly but this bill is pending in the Legislative Council.
The Legislative Council has decided to send this bill to the Select Committee. According to the bill recently approved by the Legislative Assembly, Visakhapatnam has been proposed to make the working capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amravati the legislative capital and Kurnool the judicial capital. This is going to be the first state in the history of the country where there will be three capital of a state.
