Washington: A Muslim doctor in the US has been made accused of the circumcision of nine girls. All of these girls were only 7 years old. He was produced before the court on Thursday (September 16, 2021). According to federal prosecutors, Dr. Jumana Nagarwala is part of a gang of doctors who travel around the country to commit such heinous acts.

Dr. Jumana Nagarwala was ruled by a federal judge in November 2018 in the case of circumcision of female genitalia during the country's first case of its kind, saying that the law curbing the practice was unconstitutional. Nagarwala was then released. According to the report, prosecutors told the court that Nagarwala was part of a secret network of doctors in the Indian community who were doing these heinous acts in the name of religion and traditions. During Thursday's court hearing, it was reported that women doctors in California and Illinois were circumcising minor girls from the Indian Muslim Dawoodi Bohra community. Nagarwala is alleged to have gone to Washington to circumcise five minor girls.

Prosecutors have alleged that Nagarwala circumcised nine girls at Livonia clinics, out of which 4-4 were from Michigan, 2 from Minnesota, and 3 from Illinois. The clinic is owned by Dr. Fakhruddin Attar. It is alleged that Fakhruddin Attar, his wife Farida Attar had held the hands of the screaming girls in pain during the circumcision. Prosecutors have argued that Nagarwala had circumcised about 100 minor girls in the past decade.
