Lucknow: Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, paediatrician Dr Kafeel Khan is once again in the spotlight. Kafeel Khan, who made headlines after the death of several children due to the shortage of oxygen at BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur, has expressed his desire to contest from Gorakhpur assembly seat this time against UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

In Gorakhpur, polling in the sixth phase is scheduled to be held on March 3. Speaking to the media on Tuesday (January 25, 2022), he said, "If any party gives me a ticket, I can contest against Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath from Gorakhpur.'' When asked if he was in touch with a party or was in talks with someone. To this, he said, "Yes, it's going on. If all goes well, I will contest the election.''

Kafeel Khan further said that he was targeted in the accident at BRD Medical College in August 2017, in which children of 80 families lost their lives. He alleged that his 70-year-old mother was being tortured by the police in Gorakhpur. Kafeel's mother lives with the family of his brother Adil Khan in Basantpur mohalla of Gorakhpur.
