Jaipur: Former PM Manmohan Singh has filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha by-election in Rajasthan on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Deputy CM Sachin Pilot and Rajasthan Congress in-charge Avinash Pandey. Former PM and Congress veteran Dr. Manmohan Singh is the first candidate to file his nomination for Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan so far.

4 sets of nominations were filed on behalf of Dr. Manmohan Singh. The first set was filed by CM Ashok Gehlot of the province. The second set was handed over by Deputy CM Sachin Pilot, third by Shanti Dhariwal and fourth set by Mahesh Joshi. Dr. Manmohan Singh arrived in Jaipur at 10:15 this morning. Rajasthan has 10 Rajya Sabha seats. A Rajya Sabha seat has been vacated from Rajasthan following the death of state BJP President Madan Lal Saini. The BJP has the remaining nine seats in the state. In this one-seat by-election, the Congress is seen to be in a big way. The Congress candidate needs the support of 100 MLAs to win. In the current Assembly, the Congress has the support of 12 independents, 6 BSP, 2 BTP, 1 RLD and 1 CPM MLA in addition to its 100 MLAs.
