Who don't know about Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan? He was the first Vice-President of India (1952 - 1962) and the second President. He was the architect of Indian culture, eminent educationist, the great philosopher and a devout Hindu thinker. Due to his qualities, the Government of India honoured him with the highest honour Bharat Ratna in 1954. Let me tell you, his birthday was on 5 September and this day is celebrated as Teachers' Day all over India. Today, he knows his special things on his birth anniversary.
1 Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on 5 September 1888 in a village named Tirutani, South India. He was brilliant since childhood. He did his MA in Philosophy And was appointed Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Madras Residency College in 1916. After this he also remained a professor. Dr. Radhakrishnan introduced the Indian philosophy to the world through his articles and speeches. His articles were praised all over the world.
2 The University of Chicago invited Dr. Radhakrishnan to deliver a speech on comparative theology. He was also the President of the Council of Philosophy of India. Like many Indian universities, Colombo and the University of London also honoured him with honorary titles.
3 Radhakrishnan, despite being on various important titles, always used to raise the national consciousness among his students and people in contact. He gave deep knowledge to the country which is also given to you children.
4 Dr. Radhakrishnan was well known for his patriotism, yet the British Government awarded him the title of Sir because he was far from deceit.
5 Even after the independence of India, Dr. Radhakrishnan held many important positions. He was also made the chairman of the working committee of an organization called UNESCO in Paris. This organization is a part of the United Nations and does many things for the good of the people of the whole world.
6 From 1949 to 1952, Dr. Radhakrishnan served as the Ambassador of India to Moscow, the capital of Russia. He had contributed immensely in increasing the friendship of India Russia.
7 In 1952 he was made the Vice-President of India. The first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad ji gave this great philosophical educationist and author, Bharat Ratna, the highest decoration of the country. On 13 May 1962, Dr. Radhakrishnan became the second President of India. Till 1967, he served the country as President.
8 Dr. Radhakrishnan was a great philosopher, educationist and writer. He continued to consider himself a teacher throughout his life. He dedicated his birthday to teachers. Therefore 5 September is celebrated as Teachers' Day all over India.
