New Delhi: The second wave of corona epidemic is currently wreaking havoc in India, as well as experts warning of a third wave. Many people died amidst this havoc of corona, many were seen yearning for treatment. Amidst all the crises, the country is fighting against corona, vaccination is also going on. But these efforts have now added another weapon.

The medicine made by DRDO will now be available in hospitals which is 2-DG, which will help patients fight against corona. It was launched on Monday in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan. While the country was fighting against the Corona virus, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) worked with Dr. Reddy Labs of Hyderabad on a drug called 2-deoxy-d-glucose, 2-DG. The drug has been made after nearly a year of hard work, which has been released to hospitals, the general public on Monday.

According to information provided by the DRDO and the government on this medicine, it helps in speedy recovery of hospitalized patients and reduces dependence on oxygen from outside. Treatment of corona patients with 2-DG in large quantities showed RT-PCR negative results.
