Srinagar: After the preparation of a 500-bed covid care hospital in Jammu, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has set up another 500-bed hospital in Srinagar in just 17 days, which has also been inaugurated on Wednesday. Now admitting patients to this hospital has also started. The Covid Care Centre also has 125 ICU beds with ventilators, of which 25 are reserved for children. This hospital has been developed from the PM Care Fund.
This covid centre in Srinagar has all the necessary modern facilities. The hospital has air conditioning and includes 125 ICU beds, out of which 25 ICU beds are reserved for children. 375 beds have 24-hour medical oxygen facility. A 10-bed triage area has also been created in 100 square meters. Patients have been started admitted to this covid care centre after completion of trial run of all medical facilities.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha lauded the DRDO for playing a key role in the fight against Corona and said that DRDO has prepared both the hospitals in such a short span of time and added 1000 additional beds to help the people in Jammu and Kashmir. He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for providing necessary help and intervention in enhancing health care and medical facilities in Jammu and Kashmir.
