Dr. Reddy's has fixed the price of anti-covid 19 medicine 2DG of DRDO at ₹990. However, the medicine will be provided at concessional price to pharma companies, government hospitals, central and state governments. The manufacturer on Thursday released the second batch of anti-covid drug 2-DG. DRDO officials had said on May 26 that the second batch of 10,000 pouches of 2DG medicine will be released by Dr Reddy's Lab on May 27.

Talking to ANI, officials said that the drug will now be available commercially. The drug controller general of India (DGCI) had allowed emergency use of this drug in corona patients early this month. The drug was allowed at a time when the country is reeling under another wave of corona and fighting it. In the second wave, due to lack of oxygen, patients had to be admitted to hospitals, in which thousands of patients lost their lives every day. At the time of the launch, the Defence Ministry had said that the drug is expected to save precious lives.

The medicine is expected to prevent people suffering from corona infection as the drug works on infected cells. It also reduces the time of hospitalization of corona patients. The drug DRDO was developed by Dr. Reddy is built in association with the laboratory. This medicine is said to be helpful in the treatment of corona and is used to assist in the main treatment.
