RUSSIA: A drone attack similar to the 9/11 incident has struck a tall building in Kazan, Russia, about 720 km from Moscow. A video showing the attack went viral, depecting the drone collides with the building. In a related development, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Agency (DIU) reported that North Korean soldiers, sent to Russia to fight against Ukraine, have been setting up additional surveillance posts. These posts aim to detect Ukrainian drones, as the North Korean army has suffered heavy losses during the ongoing conflict.
The DIU shared this information on its website, following a confirmation by the United States that both Russian forces and North Korean troops have faced "significant" losses against Ukraine. According to the DIU, after experiencing heavy casualties, North Korean units have begun to establish more surveillance positions to detect and counter Ukrainian drones.
Despite these setbacks, Russian forces continue to deploy North Korean soldiers in the western border region of Kursk. Yonhap news agency reports that this shows Moscow's determination to maintain the offensive momentum despite the heavy losses.
Heavy Losses for North Korean Soldiers
The situation has worsened for North Korean forces deployed in Russia. South Korea's intelligence agency revealed that at least 100 North Korean soldiers have been killed in the conflict. In addition, around 1,000 have been reported injured. The National Intelligence Service (NIS) attributes most of these casualties to the soldiers being used as frontline troops in unfamiliar battlegrounds, particularly due to their lack of experience with drones.

Reports indicate that only a small portion of the 11,000 North Korean soldiers stationed in the Kursk border region have engaged in direct combat. This shift in tactics has contributed to the high number of casualties, especially as the soldiers face challenges in adapting to drone warfare.
As tensions rise, the situation in Kazan and the ongoing losses of North Korean soldiers signal an escalating conflict that continues to impact both Russian and North Korean forces.
