The topic of DRS has been controversial over the time since its inception in test cricket back in 2008. The concept was first introduced in India and Sri Lanka playing the test match in 2008. The concept is to use the technology to review the on-field umpire decisions so as to avoid any invalid dismissal. Many times on-field umpire is not so sure about the dismissal and raises finger to signal out for the batsman but to be in doubt or being sure about the incident being invalid, the batsman can go for the technology help which is named as UDRS ( Umpire Decision Review System). The third umpire will take the call then and will review the decision seeing replay videos.

India has always been in against the inclusion of DRS for the games as they didn't find it much suitable or legal to be so much dependent on the technology so that the field umpires are for making signals only. They should also have the authority of judging the situation.

But Finally India has been agreeing to give the green signal to the system and we will be seeing it in action during the coming home series against England.

Kumble, in his capacity as chairman of ICC’s Cricket Committee, had gone to MIT where the engineers worked on the upgraded technology of DRS, which largely helped him convince BCCI to come on board for the England series.

“But he (Kumble) has been very supportive of the project. He was also in the pre-committee meeting in May last year when the results when the majority of the tests were presented. He was aware of the pre committee’s position, which was that they wanted a more consistent use of technology across international matches,” Allardice stated.
