Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday detained Iqbal Ibrahim Kaskar, brother of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, in connection with a drug smuggling case. Iqbal Kaskar has been found to be accused during the investigation of the case. The Narcotics Control Bureau had taken Iqbal Kaskar into custody on Wednesday.

NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede informed that Iqbal was remanded in production. Iqbal Kaskar was lodged in Thane jail in an extortion case, questioned by NCB after his detention. Iqbal Kaskar's name allegedly came to light during the central agency's drug case investigation last year. Thane jail superintendent Harshad Ahirao said NCB left the jail at 11 am today (Friday) with the accused Iqbal Kaskar. On June 15, NCB arrested seven people with 17.3 kg of drugs from Mumbai and Thane.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Rajwinder Singh and Gurmeet Singh, among those arrested, had come to Mumbai from Punjab on bikes for drug trafficking. The strings of this drug smuggling are also being linked to Iqbal Kaskar.
