Amritsar: The National Narcotics Bureau (NCB) has busted the entire chain of international drug smuggling rackets in the border state of Punjab. In this, 16 people including two Afghan citizens have been arrested. Along with this, 60 kg of drugs and some ammunition have been recovered. The strings of this racket are connected to Shaheen Bagh in Delhi and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
As per reports, this international drug cartel was being operated from Ludhiana in Punjab. This syndicate is spread in countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc, and various states of India. More than 60 bank accounts belonging to the Ludhiana group of the racket have also been frozen so far. NCB Deputy Director General (Northern Region) Gyaneshwar Singh has told that the syndicate was busted in a period of about one and a half months. He said that it is related to Shaheen Bagh in Delhi and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
Explain that in April 2022, the agency seized about 50 kg of heroin from Delhi's Shaheen Bagh, which was in dispute for years. Here also the Indo-Afghan drugs syndicate was exposed. Along with this, the agency also arrested six people. At the same time, 35 kg of drugs were seized in Muzaffarnagar.
