Raipur: Amid the flood-like situation in many parts of Chhattisgarh, including Raipur, due to heavy rains over the past few days, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday directed officials to remain alert. An official said, Bijapur in south Bastar has been affected by flood water in many small rivers and reservoirs and due to this, the lives of the people have been disrupted.

According to an official statement, CM Bhupesh Baghel has asked district authorities, superintendents of police and municipal corporations to remain alert in the wake of the cyclonic rains in the state. In this regard, the official said, "The CM has directed them to ensure that all disaster management measures are also going to be taken to deal with any situation like waterlogging and floods." It has been further stated that due to a cyclonic circulation over Odisha, the forecast of heavy rainfall in all parts of the state except Sarguja has increased even more.

Reports say, "It has been raining continuously in Bijapur for two days. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams and police have been deployed to shift people to safer places on time.
