New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who has a reputation of being a troubleshooter for Indian nationals facing issues abroad, once again came to rescue of a man stranded in Saudi Arabia. The man, who identified himself as Ali on Twitter, said he would commit suicide if he was unable to return to India from Saudi Arabia. Responding to his tweets, Sushma Swaraj asked the Indian embassy in Riyadh to help him.

To be noted that earlier, Ali tweeted "Sir, tell me one thing, can you help me or should I kill myself? It has been about 12 months that I have been pleading for help from the embassy. It would be a huge help if you can send me to India. I have four children,". Swaraj replied: "Don't think about suicide. We are there for you. Our embassy will help you." Here it is worth mention that following Swaraj's intervention, the embassy asked Ali to send a copy of his visa page and mobile phone number, but he said he doesn't have a copy of the visa but has an 'iqama' - a residence permit issued to expatriates who arrive in Saudi Arabia on an employment visa. Narrating his ordeal, the man further wrote that he couldn't return to India since he came to Saudi Arabia 21 months back. His tweet to which Swaraj replied was deleted later. Sushma Swaraj, who routinely replies to Indians abroad who seek her ministry's help, once again earned praise on social media for her response to Ali.
