Earthquake of 4.6 magnitude hits several parts of Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: A earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on Richter scale has shaken the several parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. As per the reports the earthquake struck parts of J&K at around 08:09 am on Sunday. As per the Meteorological Department (IMD), the tremors were felt in Kupwara and Bandipore of J&K.

According to News agency ANI An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale hits parts of Jammu And Kashmir. It also shared a image of affected areas given by Indian meteorological Department.

As per an official of disaster management said to News Agency ANI The tremor occurred at 8.09 a.m. Its coordinates are latitude 36.7 north and longitude 74.5 east. The depth of the earthquake was 206 km.

The epicenter of earthquake is unknown for now. Till now no information of any casualties and damage to property is received. The more datails about tremor are awaited.

Earlier on September 12 also 4.6 magnitude had struck with epicenter near Kargil in Ladakh region.  On October 8, 2005, a strong earthquake had killed over 80,000 people on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC). Few months ago, South Indian state Kerala have also went through a flood which killed around 400 people.
